Tarangus has released two versions of the Lansen, the attacker and the figher versions. The recce version, the S 32C Lansen, has been missing until now. Maestro Models has just released a conversion set which allows modellers to turn the Tarangus A 32A Lansen into the S 32C. You can find this conversion set at the same retailers that carry Tarangus kits.

Regarding the Viggen project we have an update, which is both bad news and good news. The bad news is that it will be delayed until this summer. The good news is WHY!

As the CAD model looked so good, we have decided to abandon the short run technologies that were used for the Lansen and instead aim for the best possible mould we can get – ie a metal mould! This unfortunately delays the release by a few months but ensures that the mighty Viggen is finally represented by a top quality plastic model kit!

The Tarangus 1/48 JA 37 Viggen – Worth waiting for!

The J 29 Tunnan was the first European fighter which could match the F-86 Sabre and Mig-15 for performance. The bulky Ghost engine gave the airplane its round shape, which earned it the nickname “Flygande Tunnan” (“The Flying Barrel” in English). It first flew in 1948, piloted by Bob Moore, a former RAF pilot, who after the first flight said “On the ground an ugly duckling but in the air a swift!” The Tunnan stayed in service until the early 1970′s. The last years it served as a target tug. It was also exported to Austria.

The aircraft that our first attempt in the 72-scale represents is an aircraft of the first two variants. The J 29A and J 29B only differed in internal fuel volume, had a non-afterburning engine and a wing that lacked the saw tooth of the later versions. The J 29B also served as part of the Swedish Air Force unit that was sent to Congo in the 1960s.

The Tunnan is expected to be released during early summer. More information on this kit to come!

The second kit from Tarangus – the Saab J32B Lansen fighter!

The J32B Lansen, aka, “Lansen Sport” because of it’s high performance engine, is now available from Tarangus! The kit of this truly historical fighter, which served in the Swedish Air Force for more than 50 years, comes with a completely new fuselage, ejection seats and with a decal sheet with several interesting options – including some of the aircraft that still flies with the Swedish Air Force Historical Flight!

A kit worth waiting for

That’s right, a brand new Viggen in 1/48 scale!
We’ve already started working on our next release: the JA37 Viggen.
The Viggen kit is expected to hit the shelves no later than the first quarter of 2013
